TRINFINITY SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES SEAGULL VIDEO PLAYER 2.5 FOR MACINTOSH

For immediate release.

Trinfinity Software announces Seagull Video Player 2.5 for Macintosh.

NEW YORK, N.Y. - - December 12, 2003 - - Trinfinity Software released today an update to their very popular Seagull Video Player, the innovative application for creating, managing, and viewing video playlists.

This update contains an improved user interface, including the option to view the playlists as a collection of thumbnails. This view displays the poster frame of each video along with it's name and order in the playlist. The size of the thumbnails can be adjusted using a slider. The application now includes a video library similar to the music library in iTunes. The library and the playlists can be exported as plain text or as tab delimited files.

We have added the ability to view multiple playlists at once using separate playlist windows and to move videos between playlists using copy and paste.

Also, added additional video information fields including: Comments, Kind, Label, Cast, Copyright, Director, Producer, Writer, Year, Genre, Year, Info, My Rating, Date Added, Last Played.

Seagull Video Player is now scriptable via AppleScript. Sample AppleScripts are included in the downloadable archive. There is also a Scripts menu to give the user an easy way to execute AppleScripts from within the application.

The user can now fast forward and rewind through the current video using the Controls menu or the floating control window. There is also a new Reveal menu item in the File menu that will show the user where a video resides in the Finder. The user can now individually control the playback speed and volume of each video. The user can also disable cursor hiding or adjust the delay until the cursor is hidden.

Revised and simplified the file type filter system. Previously, the user had to define a comma delimited list of file types and/or file extensions to use when scanning folders. The user now only has to choose whether or not to accept videos, images, and sounds. For more advanced users, there is an Advanced File Types dialog that allows the user to enable/disable individual file types and extensions.

The application will now automatically check for updates when it is launched. This feature can be disabled. The user can also manually check for updates via the Online menu.

Seagull Video Player has a new video labeling feature. The user can now create custom labels. Each label has a name and a color. If a label is assigned to a video, the video's listing in the playlist is drawn in the label color.

We have improved the bug reporting mechanism. Creating and sending a bug report is now done within the application. Most of the information in the bug report is gathered automatically and the user has the option to correct, update, and review the information before sending the bug report. The application's crash log is also automatically added to the bug report.

The playlist view options have been moved from the preferences dialog to a new View Options dialog. We have added the ability to have different view options for each playlist.

Dock icon badges have been added that inform the user when the application is playing or is paused.

This update also includes a number of bug fixes and performance improvements in both the Standard Edition and Professional Edition.

The specific issues addressed in this and previous updates are listed in the "Seagull Version History" file located in the "Documentation" folder of the downloadable archive.
